Contact Melanie at 574-533-0222 A Wonderful Tribute to this Dance...
I would love to share with you a poem that was inspired by my dancers and myself, during a wonderful performance at our local college Ethnic Festival. We were then known as "Troupe El Samek" and I had invited a business associate of mine at the time, who happens to be a most wonderful percussionist, to join us. He came up from Indy, armed with his Tabla drum and played his heart out for us, to a variety of styles and rhythms. A few weeks later, I received this very special poem that I will forever treasure for it came about because of what every dancer aspires for in their dancing...to touch the heart of another... An interesting aside: we often dance to a 9/8 rhythm called a Karshilama – Tim actually took his skills as a musician and writer and wrote this in a 9/8 meter for those of you who are musically inclined!! A most amazing feat! May this bless you on your dance journey as well... "PLAYING A PART ...(in 9/8)" |
